Disability- coming down the mountain

EDITING-
There are the two main characters who get the most screen time because its about their lives.The more able boy has the most screen time to show his point of view. The disabled boy doesn't get to show how he sees things. Typically he doesn't get a say in what happens. There is also a fade from one shot to the other, it is smooth and flows. Shows how the day gradually goes on.The more able character is very opinionated and doesn't need attention and caring like the other character.

SOUND-
There is language that is said by the disabled boy that makes you think that he is not matured and that his disability effects the way he acts, and thinks. It is like in the kitchen scene the boy says ' I need a poo'. To the audience we can tell that this type of behaviour might embarrass the more able brother. Also in the kitchen scenes the parents talk calmly and soft to the boy with down syndrome. Where as the other brother is treated less respectfully and the parents tone towards him is less thoughtful.This shows how disabled and abled people are treated differently. This can be the plot of the clip. It allows the audience to see this and proves what the more able boy is saying about his life compared to his brothers. During the conversations in the kitchen the abled boy talks a lot more than the disabled boy this tells us that in the real world disabled people don't really have a say in what goes on in society. There is diegetic sound of the cutlery and the chairs scraping along the floor brings us back to the reality of them being a normal family. Having this sound means the family is represented as the typical family with the typical life. The voiceover and the music are contrapuntal. The dialogue in the voiceover explains how annoyed the able body boy is with his disabled brother but the music is calm and soft. 

CAMERA-
There is the first shot, which is a birds eye view. It shows the rooms structure which shows the disabled boys half of the bedroom and the other boys side. This shot shows that they share a room and this is proving the more able boys point of view that he spends half his time with his brother. They are always together. There is the child like side of the room full with toys and looks a bit messy and then theres the simple side that is tidy and smart. This is showing their split personalities. There are low angles shot when he's about to leave him, to show he's more immature and unworthy. Typically the lower the shot the more the audience the have to look up to the characters. This can be significant as it can infer that the disabled brother should be looking up to other brother, but we know that the brother is leaving him alone so therefore he is not looking up to him.
-180 panda tracking shot, the second shot of him on his bed, shows his brain thinking and moving from point to point.
-zoom on the boy in bed, to show his purity and how innocent his intentions are
-close up on the bus, changes stress him and the close shot to show how stressed he is and how he is struggling with the journey home.

MISE EN SCENE- 
-dull lighting,shows sad life not happy. More of a negative 
-teenagers, not reliable leaves the boy on his own and potentially  puts him on danger and goes off with his friend to a party.
- no makeup represents innocence
-half and half sides of the bedroom, disabled boys side is very bright and colourful which shows that he is happy and content with his life where as his brothers side is quite dull and dark which shows he is not happy because he has to look after his brother all the time.
-At the bus stop the disabled boy is playing with his slinky toy which shows he has a child's mind we know this because his brother who isn't disabled is not playing with any toys.
-facial expressions-people looking at the disabled boy funny.
-disabled boy isn't really too bothered about what he is wearing.

Waterloo road analysis



-low shot of feet
-man teacher is in most of beginning shots
-the man teacher talks down to students and younger teacher. As if he is better than them.
-camera shots look up to teachers
-uniform is not warn right- rough looking
-quick shot changes
-The teachers are shown to have the most power this is because they are older and know they are in control.
-The main girl is like a bully and she is very angry due to people talking about her family and then there is the complete opposite which is the scared boy who she is after. The two charades are played so differently even thought they are in the same age range. This shows us that not all teenagers are alike.
-The sound shows the difference in the characters ages. The students use more slang and the teachers don't which show the adults are more mature and overall have more power again. 
- The shots are cut sharp which makes the clip more realistic.
-The uniform of the students are very untidy while the teachers are more smart which shows the difference in how they want to be seen. The students don't care and the teachers are the opposite and care a lot about how they are seen.

-The broken camera as a prop shows the disrespect that the students have as it is damaged and broken.
